Michael Morgner (*1942) is one of the most important contemporary artists. His work is characterized by an unmistakable signature and stems from his intensive examination of the existential questions of being human as well as the political and social challenges of his time. This volume documents all of his works on paper for the first time - a foundation on which central work complexes, recurring motifs and characteristic figure types are based. The hand drawing proves to be the origin and source of inspiration for his artistic work. The multi-layered picture that emerges from this not only allows an in-depth look at the artist's oeuvre as a whole, but also a new approach to Michael Morgner the man by revealing biographical traces in his artistic expression.

This second volume of the catalog raisonné supplements the first volume on the paintings and sculptures published in 2022 by adding a central facet of the artist's oeuvre.
