Under the Landscape weaves together insights from architecture and craftsmanship, geology and philosophy, geography and anthropology to propose a critical redefinition of "landscape" itself. Through theoretical essays and case studies, this volume examines how the concept of landscape has long been constrained by aesthetic and utilitarian views of nature, exploring instead how landscapes can be approached as sites of intergenerational, embodied knowledge that both shape and are shaped by social and environmental interactions. Originating from a 2022 symposium on the volcanic Greek islands of Santorini and Therasia, organized by the crafts collective Boulouki, the volume calls for a deeper integration of hands-on work with scholarly discourse, blending theory, practice, and action.
