The Austrian artist Erwin Wurm works in an encyclopaedic way to extend the concept of sculpture. Since 1988 he has developed his one minute sculptures, in which he explores the relationship between sculpture and everyday life, the borders between sculpture and actions, time and scope for activity, how sculptures can be reproduced and how the public can be involved. This catalogue of works presents all the artist's drawings from the past ten years related to this central work complex. These sketches are like concise directions for changing actors. They are transformed into temporary sculptures with the help of a large variety of different utensils: sculptures brimming with wit, irony, grotesque comedy and subtle relationships of tension. The book is a sequel to the volume illustrated with photos Erwin Wurm - one minute sculptures, which appeared in the Cantz Series in 1998 and rapidly went out of print. The artist: Erwin Wurm, born 1954 in Bruck an der Mur, Austria. Numerous exhibitions in galleries and museums, including the 1990 Venice Biennale. Lives and works in Vienna and New York.
