Hans Haacke, a native of Cologne, decided almost 30 years ago for an occupational life in the USA - but without ever breaking the ties to Germany. Haacke's contextual approach and his ability to bring complicated and complex political, social, societal and economic connections "to the point", and in addition to employ aesthetic strategies as a means of collecting information for the public and enlightening it corresponds to the best German tradition - if still not always welcomed even today -, not just since the collages of John Heartfield and George Grosz in the twenties. Hans Haacke will reply at the central, closed apsidal hall with an installation related to the architecture of the pavilion and to the Biennale and its political history.
