Julião Sarmento (*1948 in Lisbon) is one of the most eminent Portuguese artists of his generation. He began presenting films, videos, sound art, paintings, sculptures, installations, as well as multimedia art in the seventies, and he has also developed several significant site-specific projects. Sarmento has exhibited his work extensively, both nationally and internationally. This book features works from the late sixties to the present. Richly illustrated with all the works on display, it also includes a project developed by the artist in collaboration with writer James Salter specifically for the publication.
