| Space-oriented art in Switzerland
With the rise of the classic avant-garde in the early twentieth century, a process of expanding the concept of the work of art began that has continued to this day. The associated issues of space and time in art have since been the subjects of worldwide discussions. This publication is a geographically locatable narrative set within this development. It does not, however, address a specific scene or art movement. Rather, it uses paintings, drawings, photographs, installations, and objects to make the meaning of spatially conceptual work visible in more recent art. Numerous illustrations of the featured works place particular emphasis on their context-related approach. In addition, essays and an extensive list of works complete the image—to which the exhibition also makes a contribution—of art in and from Switzerland. (English edition ISBN 978-3-7757-3255-0) Exhibition schedule: Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, Sepember 30, 2011–January 15, 2012?THOMAS HIRSCHHORN (*1957, Bern) lives in Paris.
