Over his long career, the brilliant Catalan artist Joan Miró (1893– 1983) created a fascinating, multi-faceted oeuvre. Inspired at first by the works of Van Gogh, Cézanne, Matisse, and Picasso, he went through an important Surrealist phase and then moved on to develop his own inimitable visual vocabulary. This book is being published in conjunction with a large retrospective of his career. It features around 150 works from a period covering six decades—works that had a profound influence on twentieth-century art.
