Beat Zoderer (*1955 inZurich) is known as a Concrete artist, and yet in some respects he is the complete opposite. He deconstructs and rejuvenates Concrete Constructive Art by leveraging its austerity and rationality in subtle ways. His preference for extreme mixtures of artistic and everyday spaces can be seen primarily in his use of “commonplace” materials, such as adhesive tape, foam, or office supplies. Zoderer transfers this apparently random collection of materials to a geometrical system, creating a bridge between perfect, coolly geometrical visual logic and the sensual, the irrational, the purely material. With numerous color illustrations and a conversation with Beat Zoderer by Dorothea Strauss, Director of Haus Konstruktiv, this publication provides an overview of his oeuvre and his artistic stance.Exhibition schedule: Haus Konstruktiv, Zurich, August 29–October 26, 2008
