The video works of Swedish artist and documenta 12 participant Johanna Billing oscillate between documentary and staged scientific experiment. Billing (*1973) examines the rituals of society by filming, for example, a group of young people as they reconstruct a long-forgotten experiment, or some artists singing a melancholy ballad together in a gesture of solidarity.
