The first book to provide an overview of the new "WineArchitecture" in Austria.
While star architects have started designing and building spectacular new wineries around the world, a unique new "WineArchitecture" scene has been attracting attention in Austria for the past few years. This new building task has brought forth a new architectural language which fluctuates between a sensitive approach to traditional forms of building and self-confident interpretations of contemporary demands. This publication presents a selection of approximately seventy projects in Lower Austria, Burgenland, and Styria in the context of the new wineries in neighboring countries and international developments. It also discusses the reasons which have led to a unique Austrian cultural phenomenon combining wine with architecture since the eighties. Exhibition schedule: Architekturzentrum Wien, Vienna, September 22, 2005-February 6, 2006 · Deutsches Architekturmuseum, Frankfurt/Main, September 5-November 26, 2006
