This catalogue documents all the works Peter Kogler completed since 2000 as well as a large installation designed as a setting for works created specifically for the exhibition at the Kunstverein Hannover.
The works of Peter Kogler, born in 1959 in Innsbruck, are hard to forget. The now-famous ant motif shown at documenta IX, for example, and the large tube patterns presented at documenta X have left a lasting impression on viewers. The Austrian media artist has his emblematic, computer-generated patterns industrially produced as silkscreen prints which he then uses to create site-specific works. His signs and symbols completely cover walls and ceilings, forming networks and structures, and disturbing the viewer's sense of certainty about spatial relationships. In addition to these "wallpaper" works, which have become a kind of Kogler hallmark, he also creates large-scale installations consisting of inflatable plastic hoses or Jacquard-woven patterns for textiles, such as curtains and furniture upholstery. This catalogue documents all of his works completed since 2000 as well as a large installation designed as a setting for works created specifically for the exhibition at the Kunstverein Hannover. Exhibition schedule: Kunstverein Hannover, April 24 - June 20, 2004 · Galerie im Taxispalais, Innsbruck, September 11 - November 7, 2004 · Centre Régional d'Art Contemporain Languedoc-Roussillon, Sète, April 15 - June 26, 2005
