A classic work - out of print for many years - is now available once again: Mein Werk - a comprehensive yet very personal view of the architecture of Le Corbusier, written and compiled by the architect himself. Virtually unparalleled, Le Corbusier's revolutionary impact on twentieth-century architecture is reflected in early buildings such as the Weißenhofsiedlung, in major residential and business architecture, including his various Unités d'Habitation, in urban development projects for the cities of Algiers, Rio de Janeiro, Berlin and Chandigarh, and in such theoretical works as the development of Modulon. We are now offering our rare, long out-of-print classic, Le Corbusier - Mein Werk, originally published in co-operation with publisher Gerd Hatje in 1960, as a reprint of the first edition. With numerous photographs, plans, sketches and documents, the book describes and illustrates the development of Le Corbusier's architectural oeuvre as well as his painting and sculpture. Le Corbusier wrote the text, selected the photographs and even designed the typography himself. The product is a document of our age - the comprehensive statement of a great architect who designed and promoted architecture for the age of technology: houses as living machines, cities as rigorously rationalized work, traffic and residential complexes. The architect: Le Corbusier, born Charles-Edouard Jeanneret (La Chaux-de- Fonds, Switzerland 1887-1965 Roquebrune). Trained as an engraver, painter and goldsmith at the École d'Art in La-Chaux-de-Fonds. Worked with Peter Behrens in his studio in 1910/11. His collection of writings on architecture was published in 1923 under the title " Vers une Architecture". His essay "Fünf Punkte zu einer neuen Architektur" appeared in 1927.
