The artist Cornelius Kolig has been at work for many years building his Paradise in Vorderberg in Gailtal (Kärnten), a complex of personal utopias conceived as a Gesamtkunstwerk. That Kolig's is a deliberately secularised version of paradise becomes evident in the modified form of the basilika, in the polemical allusions to an outdated Christian iconography and in its erotic elements. In this project, which is constantly expanding and will never be completed, Cornelius Kolig is creating, with the precision and clarity of an architectural language that is devoid of playful, remythologising gesture, the setting his own strict and demanding concept of art demands.
