Yves Klein is not only one of the most important, but also one of the most versatile artists of the 20th century. Klein was a judoka, (experimental) painter and performer, a passionate reader of philosophical treatises and, last but not least, a "provocateur" (according to Thomas McEvilley) who turned his diversity into a medium for future-oriented art. In his theoretical writings, the various facets of Klein's work are documented and artistically enhanced.

This volume collects Yves Klein's aesthetic writings in an edition accessible to a broad readership and is intended as an instrument for penetrating Klein's art (of writing).

Luca Viglialoro (*1985) is Professor of Aesthetics, Art and Cultural Theory at the Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Essen and author of numerous publications in the field of art and media philosophy, such as Kiefer. Kunst als Prozess (2024) and Die Geste der Kunst. Paradigmen einer Ästhetik (2021). He has translated and edited writings by Jean-Luc Nancy and Giorgio Agamben into German.
