Over the past 25 years, Margret Eicher has created a unique oeuvre of tapestries. With precise knowledge of the history of this genre, she revives it and gives it a surprising and convincing topicality. Where once the nobility celebrated themselves on tapestries and manifested their own power, Margret Eicher presents the superstars of today. At the same time, however, her tapestries give a place to those who previously had no or too little power. The formerly affirmative character of tapestry art is also expanded by a critical dimension in that Margret Eicher turns it into a medium of media reflection. There is hardly another artistic work that captures the consequences of the digital revolution in such a clear and differentiated way.
