| A Color Ribbon Made of Paper
Silvia Bächli's artistic work is characterized by an extraordinary continuity. For more than 40 years, this Swiss artist has been driving the development of the medium of drawing both formally and conceptually. This publication documents a new, comprehensive series of large-format works on paper. Colored surfaces in predominantly muted tonal range present themselves as permeable and fragile settings, in which the brushstroke becomes visible in varying degrees. As horizontal bands of color - rhythmized to different intervals - the individual drawings develop an installative, expansive energy that engages in an interplay with the historical exhibition space. The undulations of the paper give rise to a sensual presence of the works that can also be felt in the catalogue.

SILVIA BÄCHLI (*1956, Baden/Switzerland) is considered one of the most renowned artists in the medium of drawing today. Since the 1990s, her work was exhibited internationally. In 2009, Bächli represented Switzerland at the Venice Biennale. She lives and works in Basel and Paris.
