Leon Golub, born in Chicago in 1922, is one of the leading postwar painters. As a member of the "Monster Roster" group of artists Golub has continued to address the subject of violence and oppression. insisted on the importance of content and in his art The texts reflect Golub's belief in the task of the artist as reporter. They cover every phase of his work and bear witness to his unflinching commitment to the issues of his time.
