These poster designs from the Graphic Design Class of the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe have been selected from a long series that is "beautiful, bright and elegant but also ugly, bitter and cerebral; technical and systematic but also poetic and spontaneous; loud but also very quiet" (Philip Radowitz). These studies and practical projects, covering a wide range of artistic production, bear witness to the students' "positively unstoppable creativity" as Heinrich Klotz has called it: the "Toulouse- Lautrec Prize" in 1993 - the most prestigious prize in the German- speaking world for graphic art - the Gold Medal of the Museum of Modern Art - to Béla Stetzer in 1997 - as well as the regular inclusion of students from the HfG in the list of the ?100 Best German Posters? are only a few examples of the numerous awards bearing witness to the nationally and internationally recognised importance and quality of the work being produced in Rambow's Design Class in Karlsruhe. The editor: Gunter Rambow, born 1938, lives and works in Frankfurt a.M. Numerous awards including the Design Award of the International Center of Photography in 1992. Since 1974: Professor of Visual Communication at the Gesamthochschule Kassel. Since 1992: Chair at the Hochschule für Gestaltung, Karlsruhe.
