Sam Taylor-Wood, nominated for the distinguished Turner prize last year, has for some time now been regarded as one of the most important contemporary women artists. The 32-year-old photo and video artist from Britain first created a stir with her video work Atlantic at the 1995 Biennale in Venice; in the meantime, her photographic series Five Revolutionary Seconds already belongs among the classics of photography. Like her previous works, her newest video project with the ambiguous title Third Party is about the tensions and erotic entanglements arising between persons in a closed environment. This publication, aside from some very recent photographic works, mainly documents Sam Taylor-Wood´s work on Third Party, which she realised with professional actors and the British rock star Marianne Faithful.
