Karolin Bräg (*1961 in Cologne) has spent more than twenty years persistently and penetratingly examining philosophical questions and answers that arise from the death of close family members and friends. Her work begins with intense conversations with people who have lost loved ones. Depending on her conversation partner, the artist comes into contact with people of all ages, from all walks of life, and their destinies. Exhaustive research goes into her site-specific installations, in which the artist assembles and creatively transforms the various experiences, stories, and thoughts she has gathered. Fragments of text engraved in stone or metal invite visitors to read them, inspiring them to overcome their speechlessness in the face of death. Bräg surprises the art world with invigorating, realistic perspectives of a theme that is often dealt with in the abstract.
