The growing attention being paid to today’s Polish artists worldwide is not lastly due to the fact that since the nineties, alongside its political transformation, the nation has been undergoing a cultural one as well. The contemporary art scene reflects the excitement and tension that can arise in a country that is oscillating between tradition and the dawn of a new era, thus opening up fascinating and fresh perspectives. Works by contemporary Polish artists are increasingly gaining entry into international museums and collections. As a response to this burgeoning interest, thirty-eight of Poland’s most intriguing artists who are actively influencing the Polish art scene were selected for the publication POLISH! Each artist is introduced in an essay by a leading curator or art critic, along with numerous illustrations of his or her latest, most important works and a succinct biography.
