For the Twilight Zone Light Art Festival, internationally renowned artists have intensively explored the Ruhr and what it means to the people and cities around it.
At selected sites along the Ruhr between Dortmund and Duisburg, artists such as Peter Kogler, Yves Netzhammer, Siegrun Appelt, Tatzu Nishi, Modulorbeat, Klaus Obermaier, and others will present light installations, interventions, and sculptural works to the public. In taking a new look at the landscape surrounding the Ruhr, these works articulate the special qualities of these zones and make it possible to perceive things that have remained undiscovered until now. Containing essays by well-known authors, texts about the artists, and biographies, the book examines how these works awaken new sensations, while presenting the landscape around the Ruhr as an unusual riverfront area.
