| Vincent Tavenne’s tent-like objects are new interpretations of sculpture
The Berlin-based French sculptor Vincent Tavenne (*1961 in Montbéliard) has recently attracted the attention of a wider public, especially with his spectacular textile tent objects. By using very different techniques and materials, the artist continually discovers new ways to explore the presentational and experiential aspects of space. Besides architectural sculptures made of fabric or wood, Tavenne also produces multipart assemblages of objects, paintings on paper, or bronzes of everyday objects that take on a strange, surrealistic look. This catalogue is published in conjunction with an extensive monographic exhibition at the Saarlandmuseum, which features new, site-specific fabric sculptures along with works on paper and sculptural objects from various creative phases. The richly illustrated book examines Tavenne’s artistic development to date, and offers profound insight into the many different ideas that are the foundation of his work. Exhibition schedule: Saarlandmuseum, Moderne Galerie, Saarbrücken, March 27–June 6, 2010
