„I want to make art for people who watch the Golden Girls and sit in a big, brown, Lazy-boy chair. They’re part of my public too, I hope.” Felix Gonzalez-Torres
The United States Pavilion at this year’s Venice Biennale is dedicated to the Cuban-born American artist Felix Gonzalez-Torres (1957–1996). This book documents the works selected for the exhibition, including a piece realized here for the first time. Biennale commissioner Nancy Spector, Chief Curator at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, contributes an introductory overview of Gonzalez-Torres’s oeuvre. In a conversation, curators Amada Cruz, Susanne Ghez, and Ann Goldstein discuss their proposal to nominate the artist for the 1995 Biennale.

Exhibition schedule: Venice Biennale, U.S. Pavilion, 10 June–21 November 2007
