Book and DVD provide an extensive, substantial overview of the work of Austrian artist and architect Bernhard Leitner.
Bernhard Leitner (*1938) is a pioneer of time-based visual art and one of the most prominent, internationally recognized artists in this new field. .P.U.L.S.E. documents his sculptures, architectural structures, and installations of the past decade, and an accompanying DVD covers the period from 1971 to the present day.“Sound spaces are not just spaces in which sounds can be heard. Rather, it is the sound itself that creates the space and its special qualities. Therefore, the experience of hearing not only enables us to experience the space around us, but can also make it possible to experience physical space as an ‘inner’ space. Bernhard Leitner’s work leads to a quality of sound (as space) that remains concealed within stimulus streams. It shows the potentials of sensory experience of which we are barely conscious, for they are either lost or have remained unknown as possibilities.” (Cathrin Pichler) Exhibition schedule: Hamburger Bahnhof—Museum für Gegenwart, Berlin, February 1–March 24, 2008PETER WEIBEL (* 1944, Odessa) is an internationally known media and conceptual artist, curator, and art and media theoretician. Since 2017 he has been director of the Peter Weibel Research Institute for Digital Culture at the Universität für angewandte Kunst in Vienna.
