The first monograph featuring the work of an artist whose sculptures and photographs mainly focus on the theme of space.
The multi-part sculptures and installations by Sabine Hornig (*1964 in Pforzheim) are always about reproducing the space. For instance, she puts windows into gallery spaces, creating a view where none existed before. She adds walls made of glass or papier-mâché "bricks" in order to create more rooms, or builds reproductions of façade sections or entryways. Framing, transparency, inaccessibility, memory, and fiction are terms that are key to understanding Hornig's work. This volume is the first monograph on the Berlin artist's work. Besides multi-dimensional works from 1993 to the present, it also contains photographs, as well as a text by Delfim Sardo and an interview with the artist conducted by Cay Sophie Rabinowitz and Christian Rattemeyer. The publication was made possible by support from the Senatsverwaltung für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kultur - Künstlerinnenförderung, Berlin. Exhibition schedule: Centro Cultural de Belém, Lisbon, October 14, 2005-January 15, 2006 · Berlinische Galerie, Landesmuseum für moderne Kunst, Fotografie und Architektur, Berlin, February 23-May 28, 2006
